Marta Hewelt is a trained event manager and initially worked as a freelance production manager at Hebel am Ufer (HAU) for seven years. After her time at HAU, Marta Hewelt worked as a freelance production manager for over ten years. Among other things, she managed the X WOHNUNGEN format developed by Matthias Lilienthal in the 2013 Capital of Culture Kosice (Slovakia) and HOTEL SHABBYSHABBY by raumlabor berlin, as part of THEATER DER WELT Mannheim 2014. In Bremen, she then managed the international performance/production centre Schwankhalle Bremen together with Pirkko Husemann from 2015 – 2022. In 2022/23 she was a member of the management team of the Berlin Theatertreffen.
She has known the Neuköllner Oper for a long time: in the early 00s she did an internship in our costume department, in 2013 she took over the production management of our festival MOVE OP – European Festival for Music Theatre under Precarious Conditions and in 2014/15 she took over the management during Laura Hörold’s parental leave. Since summer 2024, she has been a permanent member of the NKO Board of Directors as Managing Director.
