Studied church/school music with a major in piano in Regensburg. From 1987 to 1992, teaching at the Marburg School of Music, including as head of the Popular Music Department. 1993 to 2001 artistic director of the Kurt Weill Festival Dessau, director of the Kurt Weill Center Dessau and executive director of the Kurt Weill Society.
Since 2002 member of the board of directors of the Neuköllner Opera. Joint director of the festivals for alternative music theater OpenOp, MoveOp and Die in Beauty.
In addition to concerts and performances (including musical direction of various productions), teaching at the Berlin University of the Arts/musical/show course.
From 2014-2018, co-spokesperson of the Council for the Arts Berlin. Vice-chairman of the Kulturnetzwerk Neukölln.
